As Kansans, We Focus On What Matters

I have called Southeast Kansas home for over 50 years. My high school sweetheart, Bruce, and I will celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary this December. We raised our three children here, and several of our grandchildren are also being raised in the area. I am a proud alumna of Pittsburg State University, holding a Bachelor's in elementary education and a Master's in special education. My career has spanned teaching, vocational rehabilitation counseling for the State of Kansas, and rural economic development as a USDA Grant Administrator.

Fondly, I recall the vibrant rural communities of the past, with bustling main streets, thriving schools, and growing families. However, the decline of local industries and productions that built Southeast Kansas, have led to population loss as people have chosen to move away for better job opportunities. According to the Center for Economic Development and Business Research at Wichita State University, this trend will continue unless proactive measures are taken.

I advocate for progressive leadership that prioritizes Southeast Kansas over political affiliations. I believe that collaboration across our eleven counties will be a critical step towards the reversal of the population decline. An Experience of Educating Others

Educating others is a powerful and noble endeavor that requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to sharing knowledge.

By offering clear explanations, valuable insights, and real-world examples. I am willing to adapt, inspire, and teach in order to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others

Community Leadership and Involvement

Community involvement holds immense value in our society, as it brings people together to create positive change and foster a sense of belonging.

Through my experience, I have found that community involvement provides opportunities for understanding diverse perspectives. Moreover, this involvement strengthens our social fabric, instilling a deep sense of pride and ultimately leading to a more vibrant and resilient society.

Proven Economic Outreach

Economic outreach is of paramount importance in today's world. It facilitates trade, investment, and collaboration among the states of our nation.

Through economic outreach, I believe that counties can open markets for their products and services, attract investment, and foster innovation by utilizing our knowledge and resources. This approach helps in addressing critical state issues such as poverty, inequality, and environmental sustainability. By engaging in economic outreach, the State of Kansas can build mutually beneficial partnerships.

Open Communication

By encouraging others to ask questions, seek diverse perspectives, and to share their thoughts openly,

I will provide reliable information and facilitate constructive exchanges in order to become a catalyst for the free flow of ideas and knowledge in order to promote a culture of open and inclusive communication.

I'm seeing You...

As all decisions have both seen and unseen outcomes, it's critical that you have someone who seeks to understand the perspective of others such as yourself.

I'm listening to You...

While disagreements are inevitable, it's important we focus on everyone involved and to build support for each other through active listening.

I'm Your voice...

Kansas needs to speak up, and I seek to represent your concerns, needs, and desires. I will be your voice in our government.

I'm Devoted...

Kansas faces many challenges we need to find answers for. It's critical we choose to work through these challenges, and I will work with you and for you.

I'm Engaged...

Kansas needs leaders that participate in the work that is happening, and are not afraid to get their hands dirty with the daily work.

I'm Accountable...

Kansas should expect their leaders to understand the value of accountability, and should hold themselves accountable for their decisions and choices.
